Hannemann Officially Becomes Congressional Candidate

Joined by his wife, family, and campaign staff, Mufi Hannemann filed papers today with the Hawaii Office of Elections to officially become a candidate for Hawaii’s Second Congressional District seat. Hannemann’s campaign submitted nomination petitions with signatures from all four counties.

Hannemann stated, “I am very gratified by the support my candidacy has received from all parts of Hawaii’s Second Congressional District. Over the past several months, I have been criss-crossing the state and have held dozens of coffee hours and walk-throughs to meet with residents and hear what they’d like Hawaii’s next congressman to accomplish in Washington, D.C.”

Hannemann continued, “I believe my executive experience, record of achievement, and collaborative approach to decision-making will allow me to stand tall on Capitol Hill to strengthen our economy, improve our education system, and protect our environment. As Congressman, I will work on finding credible, workable, and bipartisan solutions to these and other issues, as I have done in the past.”

Since announcing his candidacy, Hannemann has received the support of over 25 labor organizations and dozens of major community leaders, including his latest endorsement by the three most recent mayors of Maui County.
