Hawaii Carpenters Endorse Mufi for Governor

Aloha Friends,

I am very pleased to tell you that the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 745, today announced their endorsement of our campaign to make me the next Governor of the State of Hawaii.  Both my Democratic opponent and I worked very hard to secure this important endorsement. I am therefore very honored and humbled to receive the support of this union, which represents nearly 7,000 hardworking men and women in Hawaii.

In a press conference today, Carpenters Union financial secretary and business representative Ron Taketa pointed to my executive leadership experience and steadfast support for Oahu’s rail transit project as just some of the reasons for the endorsement.

Ron Taketa: “We have supported both democratic candidates in the past for different offices, but with the staggering problems confronting our industry and our state it is clear that we need a leader with the ability to bring people together and work on solutions, a leader with a proven record of supporting working families in Hawaii and a leader most of all with executive experience who can make the hard decisions, the right decisions to get Hawaii back on the road to recovery. With our endorsement today, the Hawaii Carpenters Union is committed to working as hard as we can to elect Mufi Hannemann as the next governor of Hawaii”

With more than half of their members out of work, the Carpenters’ Union has been hit hard by the current recession.  Today’s endorsement is confirmation that the Carpenters, like many in Hawaii’s construction industry, trust me to create jobs and help Hawaii prosper.

The members of the Carpenters Union have worked hard to build Hawaii.  As governor, I will work hard every day to make it a better place for all of us to live, work and raise our families.

Mahalo Nui Loa,
Mufi
