Rallying his Supporters
Hugs, smiles, even tears mark event in Hilo
by Peter Sur, Hawaii Tribune Herald
The "Mufi express" rolled into Hilo on Saturday night in a rocking event that was part concert, part political rally and part steak fry dinner fundraiser.
Mufi Hannemann, the former Honolulu mayor who is seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for governor, met and crooned with supporters at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
The candidate was making his sixth appearance on the Big Island this July, 58 days away from a primary election showdown with former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
