Mufi Talks with supporters

“Maui for Mufi” hosted an event last night to celebrate the grand opening of the Maui campaign headquarters in Kahului.  Over 500 supporters including elected officials, community leaders, and grassroots supporters attended the family-friendly celebration, which included lots of great food and local entertainment from Maui favorites Liz Morales and Joni DeMello of Ahumanu as well as Francis Kamakaokalani and friends.  Mufi Hannemann traveled to the Valley Isle to attend the opening and gave a speech to supporters about his history of collaborating with neighbor island leaders.

“The overwhelming support I have received from Maui and each of the neighbor islands is deeply moving and enormously encouraging,” said Hannemann. “I am glad to have the support of so many who believe that I have the right temperament and understanding of county level issues to improve the quality of life for people across the state.”

“Hawaii needs a leader who has a proven track record and who knows and understands the unique issues faced by each island, said Justin Gruenstein, Hannemann campaign coordinator on Maui. “Mufi has the most relevant experience of all the candidates running for governor.  He understands our problems and has real solutions.”

In his bid to be the next governor of the State of Hawaii, Hannemann has received numerous endorsements from labor unions and the business community.  These include the Iron Workers Local 625, International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 142 and the Hawaii Longshore Division (ILWU), State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO), Sheet Metal Workers Local 293, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District 50, Drywall Tapers Finishers Local 1944, Operating Engineers Local 3, Hawaii Fire Fighters Association (HFFA), Hawaii United Public Workers (UPW), Hawaii Teamsters & Allied Workers Union, Local 996 and the Hawaii Hotel and Lodging Association (HHLA).

Mufi Hannemann for Governor has headquarters operating across the state, including Lihue, Honolulu, Hilo and now, Kahului. The Maui headquarters is located at 65 West Kaahumanu Avenue, next to Ah Fook’s supermarket in the Kahului Shopping Center.
